How to change unavailable dia of steel at site

Change unavailable dia of steel at site??

Sometimes the required amounts of steel of a particular dia are not available at site, so we have go for higher dia/ lower dia of required dia of steel. Let us calculate.

Suppose we do not have 12mm at site. So we have to go for higher dia or lower dia of 12mm for our site progress. We choose 10mm as re-place bar.

Question- If 12mm dia having spacing 100mm c/c, then what is the spacing for 10mm dia ?

Solution

Formula – (Area of available dia/ Area of un-available dia) × Given spacing
Area of 12mm bar = (π/4) × square of dia
         (3.14/4) * 12 *12 = 113.097
Area of 10mm bar = (π/4) × square of dia
         (3.14/4) × 10 * 10 = 78.539
According to formula = (78.539/ 113.097) × 100
                  = (0.6944 × 100) = 69.44mm or say 70mm
