Brick masonry is a major part in civil engineering. when we think about brick masonry a serious question always arise in our mind i.e. how we calculate our required quantity of brick for brick masonry? let's see how we calculate our required quantity of brick.

Dear friends when we calculate our brick quantity we should collect 3 data, which are mentioned below in systematically,

(Standard size of brick available in India)

1.  Thickness of brick masonry
2.  Volume of brick masonry
3.  Size of brick

These 3 factor plays a very important to calculate quantity of  brick.

QUESTION -

Calculate the required quantity of brick for 1 CUM?

Given data- 1. Volume of brick masonry = 1 cum

                    2. Size of brick = 0.19 * 0.09 * 0.09 (size in meter)

Solution-

Size of our brick is = 0.19*0.09*0.09(m), but when place our brick in our required area at that time we use mortar of 0.01 m for bonding. So we add this into our brick size i.e. L= 0.19+0.01= 0.2 m, W= 0.09+0.01= 0.01 m, H= 0.09+0.01= 0.01 m. Now our brick size is 0.2*0.1*0.1(m).

Formula-

  ( Volume of brick masonry/size of brick after adding mortar )
  
 = ( 1 / 0.2*0.1*0.1 )

 = (  1/ 0.002 )
